My father was a soldier, which meant that he was a warrior, which meant that he was important. My mother rode a horse and sang in the Governor-General's band, so that made her important as well.

I had siblings from South Asia, from East Asia, from depressed communities around America, and you know, we'd have long conversations.

We define ourselves as intelligent. That's odd, because we're doing the definition - We're creating our own definition and saying, 'We are intelligent!'

The thing about great poetry is we have no defenses against it.
