I started the nuclear medicine laboratory at UW Hospitals in 1959 and trained radiology residents in the field. It was 1965 before they found a trained MD (doctor) to take over my role.

There are now over 5,000 medical physicists in the U.S more than 50 times the number in 1958.

I am now almost certain that we need more radiation for better health.

When I do my makeup, it kind of helps me get into the character that I'm trying to portray.

But with each passing year and each new study, the evidence for the genetic contribution to individual and group differences becomes more firmly established than ever.

My first career ambitions involved turning into a boy; I intended to be either a railway guard or a knight errant.
