We all must live our lives always feeling, always thinking the moment has arrived.

After it's finished, sometimes I can trace a path that goes back to the possible source of inspiration.

I dressed up as a veterinarian for a Halloween costume party. I had the lab coat. I got a couple of stuffed animals for patients and put bandages on them.

Political differences will always generate a healthy debate, but over time the dialogue has become more hateful and at times violent.

I studied international relations and economics at the University of Virginia. I paid my way by working as a bartender in the summer and at three part-time jobs during the year.

For quite a while, I didn't receive a higher academic status. I didn't feel any discrimination against me as a woman scientist, but I hadn't produced a lot of science journal articles.
