I knew from a very young age that there was something very wrong with me.

I was a truly loving mom, but I didn't have the tools to do the job.

I have a picture of myself in my mind as I walk around every day, until I look in the mirror-and then I'm stunned.

I do think my old fella wasn't much of a... I don't remember him ever being a 'dad' dad. He was too busy working. It was a hard life, man.

It took me realizing that a broken heart has never actually killed anyone to find the courage to ask for what I want, in just about every situation. That was part of my own growing up.

I studied international relations and economics at the University of Virginia. I paid my way by working as a bartender in the summer and at three part-time jobs during the year.
