One of the best things about paintings is their silence - which prompts reflection and random reverie.

It is veneer, rouge, aestheticism, art museums, new theaters, etc. that make America impotent. The good things are football, kindness, and jazz bands.

My father worked for IBM. My mother raised us kids. There were six of us, and a couple of extra foster kids at any given time.

Well, I actually wrote her a letter a couple of days ago congratulating her. The tone I tried to convey in the letter is, look, you are a part of a great American historical process.
