A writer without his country is nothing.

I've lost Poland. Without Poland, I go down. I've been thrown out; yet I love my country.

The road that led me to literature was very different from the one followed by my fellow writers in Poland.

Obviously, overall infrastructure needs on the Southwest and Northern borders are mounting. We need a major push in Congress to remedy this.

Although I write to entertain, and try to keep my work free of didacticism, I do have a rather passionate belief in our need to be connected to - and to learn from - history.

A teacher must believe in the value and interest of his subject as a doctor believes in health.
