I'm obsessed with trash TV. I love horrible TV. shows. It's the white trash in me, you know?

My first name is a boy's name. It's Tanner. I've always gone by my middle name but, yeah, my first name is Tanner. And King is my mom's last name. I took my mom's last name since I was 18.

As for relationships, I know nothing. I'm an idiot; I can't get it right.

My mom read French 'Elle' when I was a little girl, and so, when I was 15 or 16, I said, 'I want to work in fashion.'

Well, I actually wrote her a letter a couple of days ago congratulating her. The tone I tried to convey in the letter is, look, you are a part of a great American historical process.

While writing books about the past, I think about the present. It's not intentional, but somehow my books end up being written under the sign of a political mood.
