My relationships were never equitable. My husbands were always older than me, and they made the rules, they ran the show, and I followed them.

Writing is a solitary endeavor, but not a lonely one. When you write, your world is populated by the characters you invent, and you feel those people filling your life.

There is no doubt that, as a society, we have become blase about the importance of marriage as a stabilising influence and less inclined to prize it as a worthwhile institution.

I didn't want to be famous. I just wanted to earn enough money to have a nice life and enjoy acting.

I'm a big action junkie. I grew up on the '80s action movies - the bad ones and the good ones.
