Summer has filled her veins with light and her heart is washed with noon.

No good poem, however confessional it may be, is just a self-expression. Who on earth would claim that the pearl expresses the oyster?

First, I do not sit down at my desk to put into verse something that is already clear in my mind. If it were clear in my mind, I should have no incentive or need to write about it.

Well, I actually wrote her a letter a couple of days ago congratulating her. The tone I tried to convey in the letter is, look, you are a part of a great American historical process.

What I find is most people have a civics book understanding for how Congress works and how a bill moves.

We'll get material in there and all of a sudden I'll switch the material around or the order of the show.
