Young people who are just starting out somehow need to let you know they know how to sing.

I remember feeling that. I couldn't do, nor did I want to do, the kinds of roles I'd been doing.

I look back at photographs and I remember at the time I thought I was not very attractive.

Film has always been a really good tool for me to communicate emotion about why I create a collection. I'm probably one of the first designers to make short films.

I have always had confidence in my own ability.

It took me realizing that a broken heart has never actually killed anyone to find the courage to ask for what I want, in just about every situation. That was part of my own growing up.
