I enjoy theater just for the sheer excitement of it and the immediate response that you get, and how every night the audience is a little bit different; but then, it's expensive to work in N.Y., and stage work is limited, so you're just doing it for the art. I now believe that major labels can only work with people who care more about fame and money than the quality of the art they produce. Malcolm Wilson artcarefame Change image and share on social
I think it would be bad for culture and the art if artists and people who develop the apparatus to support those artists don't get paid. Lyor Cohen apparatusartartist Change image and share on social
O, you men who think or say that I am malevolent, stubborn or misanthropic, how greatly do you wrong me. You do not know the secret cause which makes me seem that way to you, and I would have ended my life - it was only my art that held me back. Ah, it seemed impossible to leave the world until I had brought forth all that I felt was within me. Ludwig van Beethoven artbackbring share on social
The true artist is not proud: he unfortunately sees that art has no limits; he feels darkly how far he is from the goal, and though he may be admired by others, he is sad not to have reached that point to which his better genius only appears as a distant, guiding sun. I am only interested in painting the actual person, in doing a painting of them, not in using them to some ulterior end of art. For me, to use someone doing something not native to them would be wrong. Lucian Freud actualartend share on social
A painter's tastes must grow out of what so obsesses him in life that he never has to ask himself what it is suitable for him to do in art. Lucian Freud artgrowlife Change image and share on social
I remember Francis Bacon would say that he felt he was giving art what he thought it previously lacked. With me, it's what Yeats called the fascination with what's difficult. I'm only trying to do what I can't do. Lucian Freud artbaconcall share on social
Broadway has changed tremendously from the early days when the shows were referred to as musical comedies. Musical Theater is now a more expanded art form. Back then, singer/actors were not the norm. From the 60's to now, it is necessary to do it all to be a consummate Broadway performer. Betty Buckley actorartback share on social
