I wanted to show a normal young girl whose only difference was that she behaved in the way a boy might, without any sense of guilt on a moral or sexual level.

I'm always writing lyrics. I have so many lyrics on so many stray pieces of paper. Everywhere.

As to the number of novels I've abandoned... I shudder to think. I have thrown away five completed novels, and that's a gruesome enough figure. But not necessarily a waste of effort.

I would never create an image for myself; I'm not that clever.
