With drama, you know if you're having a true moment, but in comedy, if somebody doesn't laugh, then you know you're not being funny. That's a really fun challenge, and that's what draws me to comedy.
‐‐ Brooke Nevin
With drama, you need to be laughing, in between takes, 'cause you're going to those recesses of your soul and those dangerous parts. Normally, if you're not an actor or some crazy artist, you don't feel the need to run around in those areas. You keep them separate because it's painful.
‐‐ Josh Peck
With drawing, I am acutely aware of creating something on a sheet of paper. It is a sensual act, which you cannot say about the act of writing. In fact, I often turn to drawing to recover from the writing.
‐‐ Gunter Grass
With drive and a bit of talent, you can move mountains. I know. I've done it.
‐‐ Dwayne Johnson
With due apologies to Shakespeare, some people are born writers, some people achieve it after a lot of hard work, some people have a writing career thrust upon them. I am in that last group.
‐‐ Amish Tripathi
With 'Duplicity', I was a little bit like, 'This isn't that hard of a movie.' This isn't like some huge brain trust of a movie. You gotta be a little bit awake to follow the plot, but it's really just a kind of light entertainment. It's like those Cary Grant movies, which are not meant to be anything other than diverting. In a nice way.
‐‐ Paul Giamatti
With each assignment, I weigh the looming possibility of being killed, and I chastise myself for allowing fear to hinder me. War photographers aren't supposed to get scared.
‐‐ Lynsey Addario
With each book I write, I become more and more convinced that the books have a life of their own, quite apart from me.
‐‐ Madeleine L'Engle
With each book, in each place, I have to keep an ongoing map as I write because otherwise I don't know where I am.
‐‐ Tamora Pierce
With each book, you get better as a writer. There is no back door to the industry. Read in the genre you want to write, as the more you read, the better you will get as an author.
‐‐ Michelle Moran
With each book you write you have to learn how to write that book - so every time, you have to start all over again.
‐‐ Dani Shapiro
With each character in a movie, I'm looking for a human being. I'm looking for a person. And to me, I'm looking for a person that's full of strengths and weaknesses, a person that's full of successes and failures, a person that's full of joy and sorrow. I'm interested in people that are human beings that are alive.
‐‐ Derek Cianfrance
With each decision of ours that takes from the People a question properly left to them - with each decision that is unabashedly based not on law, but on the 'reasoned judgment' of a bare majority of this Court - we move one step closer to being reminded of our impotence.
‐‐ Antonin Scalia
With each dream accomplished, bigger ones are put in their place.
‐‐ Gina Rodriguez
With each film, I get more and more involved and it's more and more time-consuming. Also, I like to break myths and people's preconceived ideas. My characters have always stood for something, have always had an opinion, although they've never really rebelled.
‐‐ Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
With each game I play, each season I play, everyone would agree with me, I'm running out of chances.
‐‐ Brett Favre
With each new appropriations bill Congress considers, I have to ask myself, 'Is this a good way to spend taxpayer dollars?'
‐‐ Phil Gingrey
With each new book, the march of our national history takes a step forward. When one is present at a book launch, one is bearing witness to the birth of a new body of ideas, to the coming into being of another testimony of history.
‐‐ Ibrahim Babangida
With each new day in Africa, a gazelle wakes up knowing he must outrun the fastest lion or perish. At the same time, a lion stirs and stretches, knowing he must outrun the fastest gazelle or starve. It's no different for the human race. Whether you consider yourself a gazelle or a lion, you have to run faster than others to survive.
‐‐ Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
With each of those projects I wasn't thinking about how the layout would really affect the story I was working on - it wasn't the content that was affecting the layout, it was, how I wanted to draw at that point in time.
‐‐ Chester Brown
With each passing decade, history becomes less real for us, less immediate and essential to our way of life, and so, like 'green' nature, more of a commodity or an advertising gimmick.
‐‐ John Burnside
With each piece I've completed I have worked to make it intact, and each of them has been an equal high. It's like children. A mother refuses to pick out one as a favorite, and I can't do any better with the dances.
‐‐ Twyla Tharp
With each step I take, I see that my ability to perform gets a little better. So until it starts getting worse, I'm going to keep moving forward.
‐‐ Rivers Cuomo
With each thing that you do, all the fears in life and safeguards block out, or obscure, who you truly are. I think that just a glimpse of the person ever comes through in most material.
‐‐ Matthew Shultz
With each year that's gone by, and as I grow up and get older, I've become more mature, of course, but you have a sense of who you are, and you find confidence in that.
‐‐ Hope Solo
With 'Eagle of the Ninth,' every shot was extremely planned and organized. The director was like, 'Do this!' And I say, 'How was it?' and he says, 'Good.' It was very odd. I would never know where he was headed, or even if he was shooting me at a close-up or from a distance.
‐‐ Tahar Rahim
With Ed Wood, it was this sort of blending of Ronald Reagan, the Tin Man from 'The Wizard of Oz,' and Casey Kasem.
‐‐ Johnny Depp
With El Sistema, you can create orchestras everywhere; then they can decide whether they want to become professional musicians. The aim is not only to create musicians, but to create people.
‐‐ Juan Diego Florez
With 'Elect the Dead,' I learned how to make a rock record without a rock band and make the rock record I've always wanted to make.
‐‐ Serj Tankian
With electronics, they just get smaller and smaller.
‐‐ Amy Heckerling
With engineering, I view this year's failure as next year's opportunity to try it again. Failures are not something to be avoided. You want to have them happen as quickly as you can so you can make progress rapidly.
‐‐ Gordon Moore
With English literature, if you do a bit of shonky spelling, no one dies, but if you're half-way through a maths calculation and you stick in an extra zero, everything just crashes into the ravine.
‐‐ Mark Haddon
With enough courage, you can do without a reputation.
‐‐ Margaret Mitchell
With epic fantasy, there is a tendency for it to be quintessentially conservative in that its job is to restore what is perceived to be out of whack.
‐‐ N. K. Jemisin
With epidemics, people have been standing on the shore, waiting for the gusher to hit the ocean. But to prevent epidemics, you have to look at the various little sources that feed into the river.
‐‐ Nathan Wolfe
With episodic, kind of one-hour directing, they always have guest directors come in, so they don't have the same person week after week. You get a break.
‐‐ Melanie Mayron
With European powers no new subjects of difficulty have arisen, and those which were under discussion, although not terminated, do not present a more unfavorable aspect for the future preservation of that good understanding which it has ever been our desire to cultivate.
‐‐ Martin Van Buren

With every book, you go back to school. You become a student. You become an investigative reporter. You spend a little time learning what it's like to live in someone else's shoes.
‐‐ John Irving
With every character, I just bring something that I can make my own.
‐‐ Ashley Tisdale
With every day that passes, David Blunkett becomes more insensitive in his language and more intemperate in his actions.
‐‐ Charles Kennedy
With every deed you are sowing a seed, though the harvest you may not see.
‐‐ Ella Wheeler Wilcox
With every drop of water you drink, every breath you take, you're connected to the sea. No matter where on Earth you live. Most of the oxygen in the atmosphere is generated by the sea.
‐‐ Sylvia Earle
With every episodic, there's a learning curve where writers try to find the voice of the characters by way of the actors. Many details are found along the way. On 'Caprica,' although the franchise already existed, we were creating an entirely new world full of new characters.
‐‐ Sasha Roiz
With every film, I try and give the audiences a little more than the previous film in terms of comedy, action, drama and so on.
‐‐ Salman Khan
With every film, the pressure is on the rise for the next.
‐‐ Mahesh Babu
With every film, we form a small little world for a period of time. Everybody is close, and then one fine day everything is over. That can throw you off. So you have to learn to take things in your stride and not get too emotional about people or situations.
